Detroit Thermal Systems, a leading supplier of high quality climate control systems and components in the automotive industry, is seeking a Sr. Solutions Engineer for its I.T. Department.

Mission:

The Sr. Solutions Engineer is responsible for working to ensure the availability, reliability, and integrity of the hardware and software, network infrastructure, printing solutions, e-mail and e-mail archiving, VoIP phone solution, firewall, VPN, and backup and recovery solutions at the Detroit Thermal Systems, LLC- Romulus facility. Sr. Solutions Engineer will also have a variety of responsibilities in Plex Online (POL), our hosted ERP/MRP/CRM/SCM solution.

Responsibilities:

The responsibility of the Sr. Solutions Engineer (SSE) will be to manage, organize, and maintain all server/network/communications (SNC) related hardware, software, and infrastructure. The SSE will be responsible for reviewing all requests submitted to our helpdesk, organizing SNC related requests by category, handling all SNC related items, and assigning the requests to the appropriate team member for resolution if applicable. In some instances, the SSE will work directly with a user or external support vendor to resolve an SNC issue. Additional duties and responsibilities will include an active involvement in the day-to-day administration of a variety of systems, including account and permission management, leading data and telecom network troubleshooting and maintenance, and assisting other team members with special projects.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

· Troubleshoot and resolve all SNC related issues

· Install, configure, and maintain all SNC hardware, software, and network infrastructure

· Work with external IT support vendors to resolve SNC issue, if necessary

· Account credential and permission management throughout various DTS systems

· Lead role for various SNC projects and applications to enhance, replace and implement new and existing hardware, software and applications

· Provide assistance for non-SNC applications if/as directed by ITD

· Work directly with end users to resolve SNC issues

· Document all support cases in ITSM helpdesk

· Develop and maintain role-specific work instructions

· SSE may be assigned various projects to manage and assist with by the ITD

· SSE may mentor and provide support for end users relative to desktop hardware, software, and cloud-based applications

· All other duties and tasks as described throughout this document and as directed by ITD

Key competencies we seek include the following in priority order:

LAN/WAN hardware (e.g., switches, fiber concentrator, gateways, VLAN, TCP/IP, etc.) config, troubleshooting, etc. – experience with ADTRAN would be outstanding.

Professional Experience/Education

SSE must have at least three to five (3-5) years of job-specific experience. A Bachelors’ degree (IT-centric discipline) and/or advanced Microsoft Certification preferred. Must be proficient in SNA/LAN/WAN hardware administration and troubleshooting. Candidate will be required to possess and/or expected to learn various configuration, troubleshooting, and administrative functions in various enterprise systems. Preferred candidate will have experience supporting and have a broad understanding of business processes across all functional areas of a Tier 1 automotive supplier. This is NOT an entry level position.

Other Specifications

Applicants for the SSE position must have extensive experience with Windows Server and Hyper-V, Active Directory administration, Group Policy management, scripting, M365 administration, disaster recover, and business continuity. Candidate will have a strong knowledge of computer hardware, Windows server and desktop operating systems, Windows server-based software, and will be able to perform various hardware, software, and operating system installations, upgrades, troubleshooting, and maintenance tasks. Candidate must also have good people skills and s/he should be able to work well with others. Above average communication skills (verbal and written) are a must, as this position will require direct contact and interaction with end users, vendors, and customers.

Other requirements are included but not limited to:

1. SSE must employ technical know-how and sensibility to ensure maximum system uptime. It is expected that technical problems will occur during the day. However, it is not expected that technical problems will occur as a result of the SSE’s doing. The SSE must use experience, knowledge, and sensibility when working on DTS’s various IT resources.

2. Coordinate, organize, and prepare end demonstrations, and documentation.

3. Support DTS systems and applications.

4. Provide training and mentoring for end users as directed by ITD.

5. Communicate critical issues found to IT management, stakeholders, and project team.

6. Will be exposed to all areas of the business and may be asked to manage/lead various projects.

7. Researching new technologies, including attendance of conferences, seminars, or training as directed by ITD.

8. Expected to perform and to make suggestions for change and work to enable change across the organization.

9. As a member of the IT department, SSE is on-call 24/7/365, must be available for business hours and after-hours emergency support.

10. SSE must follow policies and procedures set forth by both the company and the ITD. DTS and the ITD have numerous corporate policies that must be followed by everyone. The SSE must abide by all of these policies at all times. Failure to follow or comply with company or department polices may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination.

11. SSE will keep confidentiality in mind at all times.

12. SSE will not be permitted to work for any direct competitors of DTS and/or affiliated entities. A non-competition agreement may accompany terms of employment.
