New Model Launch Manufacturing Engineer

Manage new model assembly equipment development from concept to launch at manufacturing site to meet Detroit Thermal Systems and customer requirements.
Summary of responsibilities:
Industrialization of facility for flawless launch of new products or major design changes.
Develop conceptual quotes with Engineering group and Sales for future projects and design changes based on lessons learned.
Manage equipment vendor line ups, quoting and vendor selection process from kick-off to launch; including vendor run-offs.
Manage pre-production and launch build events on assembly equipment with cross functional team.
Troubleshoot equipment issues and follow through to completion.
Create best in class Poke Yoke systems that verify process is followed as developed.
Liaison with customer engineering departments to understand changes or issues and verify feasibility or develop corrective actions for resolution.
Actively participate in Continuous Improvement activities to fully utilize equipment and process.
Develop recommendations of best practices for assembly equipment and the process.
Research, review and develop new machinery and equipment vendors for improved functionality that can reduce costs for current and future programs.
5 years or more of hands on experience with product and production launches at an automotive tier 1 or 2 supplier.
Experience in process development and manufacturing quality disciplines such as controls plans and PFMEA’s preferred
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience
