Quality Supervisor, Auto Supplier, Tier 1

The Quality Supervisor will support production in all areas of the production process from start to finish. The Quality Supervisor will have ‘cradle to grave’ responsibility for all product line/group(s) and will become the specialist for their specific product with an in-depth understanding of the full process. They will build expertise and ownership of the Quality performance of all product line/group(s) as a main performance metric. This role will create a true product/process champion who are able to speak with authority and knowledge about all the product line/group(s) and form partnerships with all production interfaces in the direction of product performance, application and general quality. They are the Lead function for product quality enforcement and on-going compliance for post launch product line/group(s). They must ensure procedural compliance is implemented and maintained regarding Preventative and Corrective action, Customer specific requirements, Non-conformance tracking and reporting in DTS data bases for Quality metrics performance reporting. Provide support / mentoring for 8D development, problem solving, corrective action & read across verification, training to DTS procedures and plant specific resource needs. Execute PPAP, Control plan, PFMEA, DTS procedures and Read across, DTS specific requirements and audits of compliance. This position will lead, guide and mentor all Quality Techs. in DTS and Customer specific requirement and their profession development and HR needs.

Responsibilities:

Responsible for coordination of quality activities to ensure product quality and reliability.

Execute and/or monitor quality requirements as well as manufacturing process validations and controls to ensure compliance, continuous improvement and scrap reduction

APQP – Support for Engineering and Operations for launch activities of new products such that they are in accordance with Customer and DTS requirements. Implement and ensure compliance to Safe Launch and controlled shipping procedures for Quality spills with plan to exit within a reasonable time frame.

Enforce defined standards towards supplied parts Quality for production. Support initial DTS supplier root cause analysis for supplier related quality concerns to confirm fault. Work with SQ to drive Quality issues to closure.

Provide Quality support for Corrective Action(CA) teams ensure lessons learned, continuous improvement and scrap reduction are captured and read across to common lines and programs

Establish training needs for Quality Techs and ensure training is planned/executed for entire team

Coordinate and coach plant teams in the creation of monthly reports/data collection procedures

Support Process/Control plan Audits - ensure CA plans are implemented and in compliance

Highlight and communicate awareness of quality concerns. Work / coach plant team members for all quality spills

Responsible to work with QE’s in continuous improvement of DTS standards/procedures based upon systemic lessons learned. Ensure compliance to Customer specific requirements and all CA's

Monitor, collect and analyze internal data from reporting tools to establish Quality performance trends, define actions to address these and drive these actions to closure.

Collect and ensure accuracy of production performance data (200%, FTT) for reporting purposes

Support Internal LPA and TS Audits / Follow Up on responsible Corrective Actions

Directly responsible for the execution, coordination as well as supervision, mentoring and coaching of the Quality Techs for:

Injection mold and Assembly scrap validation - start and end of shift

Validation and collection of Assembly and Hex rabbit logs and in line poke-yokes w/reaction to failures

Verify injection mold books (PMEA sign off, correct book, Operator sign off of 1st pc)

Perform or coordinate production IP / CP Testing and Product/Dock Audits

Enforcement, updates and replenishment of all Quality related line documentation

Sorting nonconforming production/directed supplier parts, customer returned material and suspect molded part

Implement and maintain 200% activities (validating and investigating high hitters)

Support for Periodic PJO’s, Floor observations and audit lines for posting/removal of quality alert, shipping labels for service and for NEW employees on lines that require training support

1st part approval - Q Techs to sign off - with each Mold / Insert change and verification of key process parameters

Molding Area Process Audit (1st part, P/N, Cav. Number, Rev. level, Date Wheel Verification)

Boundary samples - capture, define, maintain, enforce and Train

Calibration verification - Ensure all calibrated equipment used in production is current (ie. Torque verification station, Mounting gage checks, Go No-Go gaging performing and/or validating)

Oversee and ensure compliance to Control plan requirements and defined Warranty improvement actions

Ensure common and accepted safety protocols for Quality are implemented as needed and complied with

At least ONE special project per year – Variability or Process improvement.

Position includes leading teams of hourly personnel. Must be able to enforce quality standards while working with production, consistent with business needs and Company standards. Must work well with entire work force.

Professional Experience/Education:

Associates degree required, Bachelor’s degree preferred, (Engineering or other technical field desired) with 5-10 years of Automotive Quality experience, preferably within supervision; Desired competencies/experiences include Disciplined Problem Solving, FMEA, and some IATF16949, Q1 background and internal auditor experience. Demonstrated ability to evaluate Control Plans, FMEAs and Process Flow diagrams. Strong computer skills (Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Word). Six Sigma experience a plus.

Other Specifications:

Strong interpersonal skills. Hands-on experience maintaining an ISO/AS quality system. Experience working as a supervisor, entry level QE or SQE in a manufacturing environment utilizing an ISO/IATF quality system. Ability to read and interpret GD&T and engineering drawings. Experience in PFMEA, process control plans and technical process documentation. Trained in and have knowledge of root cause analysis, six sigma, CI and CA processes. ASQ certification a plus.

Casual overtime may be required. Increased occasions of the aforementioned expected during launch.
